30 MILES OF CRAZY! 58.5: Yuengling

30 MILES OF CRAZY! CIRCUS!: On The Road: Philadelphia continues.

Here's a sneak peak from this Friday's 30 MILES OF CRAZY, where the funeral is (almost) over in Philadelphia, we're at a classic bar off Broad Street, and we get back to drinking one of the area's best beers (and Oldest Brewery in America): Yuengling.

Growing up in the area, I never thought it odd to go into a bar, order a 'Lager' (or a 'Porter'), and you would always get a Yuengling product. Until years (and living in several other cities) later when K pointed it out, it never even occurred to me that ordering a beer by style (rather than by name) was really... quite odd. However, that's always the way it was (and still is since my last trip there) with Yuengling in the Delaware Valley. It's still one of the things I really miss from that area (though I've heard it's beers have made it's way up to Massachusetts, where we'll be next week! There may just be a Yuengling/Narragansett drink off...)

30 MILES OF CRAZY! 58: The Funeral of CGK, Part 3

BOOM! Time for a new 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (#58) with Part 3 (of 6) of 'On The Road - Philadelphia.

This week continues with Part 3 of 'The FUNERAL OF CGK'. Yes, this week... children play with coffins. You all knew it was going to come to this.

Again, please note that this comic is TWO pages. Not only am I doing my first multiple chaptered continued storyline, but I'm doing in numerous paged installments. ONWARD AND TO THE FUTURE!!!
Like last week, the musical accompaniment will be one of my father's favorite songs. So, three... two... musical accompaniment... and GO!

Share and Enjoy!

30 MILES OF CRAZY! CIRCUS 57.5: The Hawaiian Shirt

30 MILES OF CRAZY! CIRCUS!: On The Road: Philadelphia continues.

Yes, this actually happened. When people wonder about me and my family, this is the sort of thing that I point out.

30 MILES OF CRAZY! 57: The Funeral of CGK, Part 2

Friday! Time for a new 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (#57)

Once again it's time to leave the charmingly grim and gritty Colfax Avenue (fun for kids of all ages. Just make sure you got your shots) and the Mile High City for the cheesesteak-clogged arteries of Broad Street (and place I once lived for far too long), Philadelphia. With it's water ice, Mummers, and 'Bullies' (1970's Flyers' joke!) for Part 2 (of 6) of 'On The Road - Philadelphia'.

Again (like most of the comics in this series), please note that this comic is TWO pages. Seriously, when I've done two page stories in the past (like 30MoC #31), people have approached me in bars commenting that they really didn't get the story... cause they never scrolled down further to read the next page. So, as a PSA, please scroll down and read the second page.

... and yes, we are still at the funeral. Trust me. It was a weird day. Also ... yes, these were all things actually said to me. And lastly.... yes, my name was almost  'Hans' (and my uncle still calls me that, refusing to use my given name.) Can't decide if I dodged a bullet or not with that name.

So, let's get started with THE FUNERAL OF CGK, Part 2.

Like last week, (no sarcasm) the musical accompaniment will be one of my father's favorite songs. So, three... two... musical accompaniment... and GO!

Share and Enjoy!

30 MILES OF CRAZY! 56: The Funeral of CGK, Part 1

... and it's Friday once again. Time for a new 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (#56)! Also time for another trip away from Colfax, out of the Mile High City, and On The Road to the 'City of Brotherly Love' (and place I used to live) - Philadelphia - for a new six part series.

This week: THE FUNERAL OF CGK, PART 1... or.... (I really don't have a second title. I mean, it's a funeral. Have some respect.)

Okay... first thing that needs to be said, please note that this new comic is two pages. Twice the 30 MILES!

Second thing...  Yes, this new comic series is about the funeral of my father, someone I never had the most brilliant of relationships. Sure, during all these events was a time that was 'Very Serious In Nature' (trademarked!) and is a story that I've been wanting and waiting to tell until 'The Right Time' (also trademarked!) Next week is the two year anniversary of his passing and funeral, so I guess that time has finally come.

Also, let me say there is nothing 'Tru-ish' about this story. It's ALL true. Yes, all of this actually happened. As you'll find, my family has never been the most serious of people (well... most of them.)

So, here it is. THE FUNERAL OF CGK, Part 1.

... and with the Musical Accompaniment, I thought it would be a good idea to use some of the music that my father loved that I grew up with. So... three... two... on... Musical Accompaniment... and GO!

Broad Street, Philadelphia

As many people know, the idea of 30 MILES OF CRAZY! are the characters and stories that you meet on the streets and main thoroughfares of the city where all the interesting (and most likely sticky) things lurk. So, Denver has it's Colfax Avenue, Boston has it's Massachusetts Ave (Mass Ave!), San Francisco hasMarket Street (oh yes, I do have some San Francisco stores for a later 'On The Road' series)...

... and Philadelphia has it's Broad Street

As in the past, I've done a background image for the upcoming 30 MILES - 'On The Road: Philadelphia' six part series (which starts tomorrow).... where funny enough, none of the stores take place on Broad Street (Part 4 is a block or so off Broad on Pine Street, but none actually on the street), so it's not an exact analogy, but hey... IT'S ART!

30 MILES OF CRAZY! CIRCUS 55.5: On The Road: Philadelphia

Once again, the comic is leaving the Mile High city for a new 6 part story that starts this Friday detailing a trip some time ago back to the 'City of Brotherly Love.' It's 30 MILES OF CRAZY!: On The Road: Philadelphia ... and, yes, it also involves a funeral.

Also... yes, Water Ice is a thing (though the Mummers and the whole 'Jawn' thing, I still really cannot explain. There are many reasons I left this city so long ago.)

30 MILES OF CRAZY! 55: A Walk Down West Colfax

BOOM! Friday once again. Time for another 'Tru-ish' tale of Colfax and the Mile High City. A new 30 MILES OF CRAZY! (#55)! This week: A Walk Down West Colfax... or YOU REALLY CAN'T WALK IT. YOU HAVE TO DRIVE.

Starting next week... Once again leaving Denver for a new 6-part 30 MILES series - On the Road: Philadelphia. Trust me... it's going to be a little intense.

Three... two... one.... Musical Accompaniment... and go!
