Drunkard Portraits: Martin, Churchill, & Franklin

"The whole world is drunk and we're just the cocktail of the moment. Someday soon, the whole world will wake up, down two aspirin with a glass of tomato juice, and wonder what the hell all the fuss was about."

'D. Martin' Brush/Ink/Digital Color, Feb '09

"My rule of life prescribed as an absolute sacred rite of smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after, and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them."

'W. Churchill' Brush/Ink/Digital Color, Feb '09

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

'B. Franklin' Brush/Ink/Digital Color, Feb '09

New Drunkard Portrait: Nick Cave

"Brother, my cup is empty
And I haven't got a penny
For to buy no more whiskey
I have to go home"

"I am the captain of my pain
Tis the bit, the bridle,
The trashing cane
The stirrup, the harness
The whipping mane
The pickled eye
The shrinking brain
O brother, buy me one more drink
I'll explain the nature of my pain
Yes, let me tell you once again
I am the captain of my pain"

New Drunkard Portraits: HST & Kerouac

"Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll."
—Gonzo Papers, Vol. 2: Generation of Swine: Tales of Shame and Degradation in the '80s, 1988

"I'm Catholic and I can't commit suicide, but I plan to drink myself to death."

New Drunkard Portraits: Cash

"Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert."

SLG's Center for Comic Book Study

SLG's Bou-tiki Gallery will be hosting my Boozers, Barflies, Bastards Art Show in March. This is the same show that debuted at the Modern Drunkard Convention last August with some new pieces. The official opening is on March 6th in San Jose, CA. I'll be in San Jose all weekend and will be one of the 'Guest' panelist (with Landry Walker {Tron, Little Gloomy, DC's new Supergirl Adventures} and Serena Valentino {Gloom Cookie, Nightmares & Fairy Tales}) on Saturday Afternoon, March 7th talking about all things comic book-y.
